This qualification reflects the role of individuals in a variety of Business Services job roles. It is likely that these individuals are establishing their own work performance.

Individuals in these roles carry out a range of routine procedural, clerical, administrative or operational tasks that require technology and business skills. They apply a broad range of competencies using some discretion, judgment and relevant theoretical knowledge. They may provide technical advice and support to a team.

Delivery will occur over a 56 weeks (45 weeks training and 11 weeks holiday break) period.

  • Where students successfully apply for Credit Transfer (CT) and/or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), the course duration may be shortened accordingly and adjustments will be made to any CoE issued.

St Peter Institute has the following entry requirements:

International students must:

  • be at least 18 years of age and have completed Year 10 or equivalent.
  • participate in a course entry interview to determine suitability for the course and student needs. The course entry interview will also assess language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) and whether students can use digital technologies.
  • have an IELTS* score of 6.0 (test results must be no more than 2 years old).

English language competence can also be demonstrated through documented evidence of any of the following:

  • have completed a Certificate IV or above in Australia within the last 2 years
  • educated for 5 years in an English-speaking country.

*Note that other English language tests such as PTE and TOEFL can be accepted, see full list available here. Students are required to provide their results so that it can be confirmed they are equivalent to IELTS 6.0

Students with English Language Tests that are equivalent to IELTS 5.0 or above can also be eligible for entry into this course by participating in an ELICOS course (English classes) with SPI prior to entry into this course. Please contact SPI for more information.

Assessments will be conducted face to face which could include:

  • Direct observation – in a simulated classroom environment – usually role plays
  • Product based methods – these are generally reports, case studies, projects, and presentations.
  • Questioning – written and verbal questioning is used for a number of assessment tasks.
  • A combination of the above methods.
 

Job roles and titles vary across different industry sectors. Possible job titles relevant to this qualification include:

  • Clerical Officer
  • Administration Officer
  • Sales Worker
  • Data Entry Operator
  • Customer Service Officer
  • Face to face at our Melbourne Campus – 20 hours per week of classroom based training and assessment
  • 5 hours of self study including structured self-directed learning and completing assessment work started in class
  • Up to an hour per week of individual support if required
